Stop quitting and check your laces first
Jul 18, 2017
While Thomas is running, he realizes this pain. It´s unfamiliar and very uncomfortable.
The first thought that comes to his mind is: You better buy new shoes mate.
The second thought follows immediately while he is still running.
Maybe I should quit running today. Probably my knees are not made for this any longer.
But he keeps running till kilometer four. As he stops, his eyes are going down to check his laces.
A closer look reveals it. They are not tied well.
Thomas bends down and doing up the shoe laces tight. As he starts to run again, he immediately feels the difference: Yes, this is much better now.
The day before Thomas was wearing his running shoes for a walk with the kids.
For doing this, he loosen the laces a bit.
As soon he was back home, he grabbed paper and a pen (yes there are still some people who are making notes the old school way) and wrote down the lessons he learned:
- You don´t have to quit, only because of an unfamiliar feeling
- Don´t buy new stuff right away, when it´s a bit uncomfortable
- When changing a setting (the laces) remind yourself on resetting
Thomas experience is universal for life.
We often quit to soon, because we feel uncomfortable.
Or even worse, when we feel that pain due to rejection of somebody.
Chasing the NEW gives us curiosity and this spark of freshness.
I can tell you, that this is one of my major challenges in life is "to stay with one specific topic".
But we may miss the magic of being the best we can we can be, because we ignore the power of Re-Working the actual.
It´s impossible for me to teach that to you. I have to learn that myself.
This is why I am sharing my personal running experience with you.
No matter what challenge you are facing right now, be brave and act bold now.
It´s the way, to have no regrets today.
Yours Max
